SIDI & ROAD TO EQUALITY

CYCLING AS A VEHICLE FOR CHANGE

Uniting sport and human rights for a future of equal opportunities

THE ASSOCIATION

"Road to Equality" is a non-professional sports association founded by former world road cycling champion, Alessandra Cappellotto, which promotes dignity and the emancipation of female athletes through cycling, valuing them both as athletes and women. The association is inspired by Goal 5 of the UN 2030 Agenda, which aims to achieve gender equality by promoting equal rights at all levels of participation.

A NATURAL SYNERGY

Sport, especially cycling, is utilized as a tool for empowerment and equality through the "Road to Equality" project, which supports girls in 14 countries. The initiative made headlines for rescuing a group of Afghan cyclists from persecution in their country by relocating them to Italy. In 2021, Alessandra helped 14 individuals move from Kabul to a small village in the province of Vicenza, where they were warmly received and integrated into the local school and community. These girls, now refugees, have resumed their studies and work, with two of them preparing for the Paris Olympics. Their story is a symbol of hope and determination for the future of gender equality and human rights. In Paris, they will meet Ese Ukpeseraye, another athlete from the program, hailing from Nigeria.

MTB SPEED 2 RTE

Sidi Sport has contributed to the project by providing Road to Equality athletes with road and off-road cycling shoes. The off-road shoe, MTB Speed 2 RTE, has been customized with the association's logo, strengthening the bond between sport and social solidarity.
