SIDI & FILIPPO POZZATO, A CAREER TOGETHER…

When a rider feels that the time has come to get off the bike, it’s only fair that he should do so, with no regrets. At the age of 37 Filippo Pozzato has said stop. Sidi and Pippo have shared a long, excellent adventure, an entire career together, with 19 years spent in the professional league, always pushing those pedals with Sidi.

Pippo Pozzato’s crystalline talent made him a “golden boy” in Italian cycling, where he broke through to the pros in the 2000 season on the great Mapei team, when he was just 19 years old, skipping the under23 class all together. His greatest successes include the 2006 Milano-Sanremo, several stages in the Tour and the Giro, the Tirreno-Adriatico in 2003 and the 2009 Italian Championship. Also memorable was his 2nd place in the Roubaix in 2009 and another 2nd place in the 2012 Ronde Van Vlaanderen, which confirmed him as one of the few Italians in the last decade who could also stand out on the hellish cobblestones in the North.

The relationship between Sidi and Filippo Pozzato is based on values of friendship, collaboration, fondness and reciprocal esteem. Sidi has always strived to satisfy the demands of the champion who hails from Sandrigo, Vicenza. Pippo is very conscious of his look, even on a bike, so throughout the years we here at Sidi have come up with lots of “special edition” shoes made just for him. These unique models reflected his brilliant personality, which helped him stand out as one of the most discernible and bubbly characters in the pack. Sometimes his style was a little unusual to see in a rider; however under certain aspects it was a good thing for cycling, helping the sport to break out of its stuffy traditional boundaries. His charisma will definitely contribute to making him a success in all of his future projects, in sports and in life.
