THE FIRST EDITION OF THE ADRIATICA IONICA RACE BELONGS TO SIDI - Final success goes to Colombian Ivan Ramiro Sosa from team Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec.

Sidi figured as a major player in the first edition of the Adriatica Ionica Race (20-24/06). The debut for this lovely new race was immediately spectacular and thrilling. From Jesolo to Trieste, passing through the Dolomites. The race was compelling and really appealed to both the crowd of two wheel fans as well as businesses from the sector. The hope is that the Adriatica Ionica Race can continue to grow with each edition to become an important appointment on the international calendar between the Giro and the Tour.

In the meantime, Sidi gets the joy and satisfaction of having claimed victory in the very first edition. It’s all due to Ivan Ramiro Sosa. The young Colombian climber from team Androni Giocattoli – Sidermec built this victory with his feats in the third stage, the “Queen stage” on the Dolomites, with arrival on the summit at Passo Giau. In fact, on Friday at the finish line on Passo Giau, Sosa clinched the stage victory to don the blue jersey as leader of the general (he also nabbed the white jersey as best young rider at the tender age of 20). He managed to hang on to the blue jersey and defend it all the way to the final finish line in Trieste on Sunday.  Places of honour on the final podium went to Italian Giulio Ciccone (Bardaini- CSF), second at 41”, and Russian Ildar Arslanov (Gazprom-RusVelo), third at 1’18”.

This was a great result for Ivan Ramiro Sosa, who already stood out this year in May at Tour of the Alps, where he held the lead in the climbs with the top riders from World Tour teams. Whether he is giving battle on climbs or shining on the podium, Sosa can always count on his Sidi Shot shoes.
