CHRIS FROOME PAYS A VISIT TO SIDI BEFORE TAKING ON THE ZONCOLAN - After the Tour and the Vuelta, Sidi Shot shoes to capture the Giro d’Italia.

After wrapping up his high altitude training workshop on the Teide in Tenerife, Chris Froome (Team Sky) arrived in Italy and paid a visit to Sidi general headquarters in Maser (Treviso). The British rider will be one of the most popular stars in the Corsa Rosa, and his quest towards the big race will begin from Italy.  After riding in the Vuelta Valenciana and the Tirreno-Adriatico, Froome will get back to racing on Monday, in the Tour of the Alps (16-20 April), which will be his last race before the Giro. Just a reminder that the Corsa Rosa will kick off from Jerusalem on May 4th and the grand finale will take place in Rome on May 27th.

Froome visited the company to shake Dino Signori’s hand and say hello to the entire Sidi staff, but it was also the perfect occasion to work out some final details on the Sidi Shot shoes he will be using during the upcoming race in Trentino and then in the Giro d’Italia.

After having won seven stages and four editions of the Tour de France (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017), as well as an edition of the Vuelta Espana (2017) with Sidi, for Chris Froome 2018 has become the year in which to go all out for the pink jersey, so that he can complete his impressive portfolio of major stage races.

It’s going to be an intense weekend for Chris Froome. On Saturday, before the Tour of the Alps, he has scheduled a recon ride on what will be the route for the 14th stage of the Giro, which will take place on Saturday, May 19th, with the arrival on the arduous climb up the Zoncolan. Froome is planning to pedal the last 75 km of the stage, taking on the two key climbs up Duron and Sella Valcalda, and then the grand finale with the exhausting trudge up Zoncolan. Then on Sunday Froome will test ride the Trento-Rovereto time trial route, another stage that could be decisive in the 2018 Giro.
