SIDI AND TEAM CST SANDD AMERICAN EAGLE MAJOR PLAYERS IN THE WOMEN’S MTB XC WORLD CUP - Ukrainian Yana Belomoina is number 1 in women’s mtb with Sidi.

In the races that count, both on and off road, Sidi is on the top step of the podium. The World Cup season for the cross country specialty in mountain biking is bringing tremendous satisfaction to the company from Maser. This year it is all thanks to the women, and to be more specific to Yana Belomoina (CST Sandd American Eagle Mtb Racing Team). We are seeing great achievements from the young Ukrainian biker born in 1992. She has become the Queen in the first half of the season, clinching victory in two out of the last three World Cup races she rode. At Albstadt, Germany, in the end of May and at Vallnord, in Andorra, in the beginning of July, she blew away all her competition, proving herself far superior to all adversaries. These two splendid victories have catapulted her to the top of the overall standings in the World Cup series.

In the last race she rode, which was the fourth round in the 2017 World Cup held on July 9th in Switzerland, Belomoina did not win; but in any case she didn’t fall off the podium after collecting valuable points to add to her overall leadership. Belomoina closed out the race in third place behind the winner, Britain’s Annie Last, and the Norwegian Gunn Rita Dahle, who was second.

Yana Belomoina is the first Ukrainian biker in history who, for the second time after 2016, finds herself in command of the general classification for the World Cup, where she is firmly in control with 800 points, well ahead of Poland’s Maja Wloszczowska, who is in second place with 610 points. Switzerland’s Linda Indergand is in third place with 560 points, Norway’s Gunn Rita Dahle is fourth with 538 points and the Dane Annika Langvad is fifth with 524 points. The Ukrainian biker is also in the lead of the UCI MTB XC rankings, ahead of Switzerland’s Neff and Poland’s Wloszczowska.

As she does battle in the dust and mud of race tracks all over the world and shines on the highest spot on the podium, Yana can always rely on her Sidi shoes. She uses the MTB Drako Carbon Srs, which is one of the top models in Sidi’s off-road collection. She chose hers in fluorescent yellow and blue, to recall the colours of the Ukrainian national flag.

Furthermore, Sidi is also the official partner for the entire CST Sandd American Eagle Mountainbike Racing Team. The motor and heart of the team is Bart Brentjens, owner and team manager. His is a prestigious name in the world of mountain biking. With the gold medal he won in Atlanta in 1996, Brentjens became the first Olympic Champion in the history of this sport as an Olympic event. Of course, Sidi shoes were with him on that day in Atlanta, as he wrote an unforgettable chapter in the annals of mountain biking. Brentjens’ portfolio also boasts the World Title he won in 1995, Olympic Bronze in Athens 2004 and victory in the General MTB World Cup in 1994, on top of 10 Dutch National Titles in this sport.

Obviously, now the goal for Belomoina and CST Sandd American Eagle Mountainbike Racing Team is to defend and continue this leadership all the way to the end of the season, even though it will not be an easy feat to carry off.  The next rounds, rounds five and six in the MTB XC World Cup, will be in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, on August 4th and 5th, and then in Val di Sole in Trentino, Italy, on August 26th and 27th. Now there is to think about the European Championship, this weekend in Darfo Boario Terme, Italy. Then in September the World Championships will be held in Australia. And further ahead there is the dream of a medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
