AN EXCITING VUELTA FOR SIDI… - Sidi champions in action on the roads of La Vuelta Espana

The first part of La Vuelta Espana has flown by in a series of thrills and surprises. Of course, champions from the Sidi team figured as major players.

The champions are different from one another. Each one of them has a different goal. There are those who can vie for the general classification and the final podium in Madrid. Chief among these are Spain’s Ion Izagirre (Bahrain-Merida) and the Colombians Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana Pro Team) and Rigoberto Uran (EF Education First). Currently all three riders are in the Top10 for the Vuelta, in 5th, 7th and 8th place, respectively, with just a few seconds separating them from the red jersey that is actually on the back of Britain’s Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott).

Not to mention Poland’s Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky), who did great in the first few days of the race, managing to spend three days wearing the “la roja”, the red jersey identifying the leader here at La Vuelta.

Obviously, there are those here in Spain to make it into the right break, in an attempt to clinch a stage victory. Among these we are thinking about Italian Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott), who has been wearing the European Champion’s jersey which he won a few weeks ago in Glasgow, Scotland, here on the roads of the Vuelta.

There are also the jet men focused on the sprinting arrivals, including Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis), who delivered a nice victory to Sidi when he beat out the rest of the competition in the final sprint of the 6th stage with the finish line in San Javier.

Then there are those who are working hard every day to get back into top form as they look forward to the World Championships in Innsbruck, like Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida); here’s a champion who has already conquered the Vuelta in his career (first in 2010 and twice second, in 2013 and 2017). However, this year he is here to recover after an injury he sustained in the Tour de France, which required him to undergo back surgery. “The Shark” has made a surprising record recovery, and this in itself is a victory.

As we mentioned, Sidi is the one thing all these champions have in common. The company from Maser (Treviso) provides them with only the best; that is, the Sidi Shot and other top-of-the-line models from their collection: these shoes are light and comfortable; they feature cutting edge technology and are highly performing. Only the best for the best.

There are still two weeks left in the race before the final finish line in Madrid. The riders will still have to take on lots of climbs, and there will be plenty of opportunities to try to come up with something to make a breakthrough.
